In September 2011, to the TGS, Square Enix announced the development of Final Fantasy X HD on the PlayStation 3 and PlayStation Vita. At that time, it was question to celebrate 10 years of this PS2 episode remained in all our memories, in particular at the Japan.

Then, the black hole. It was only in March of this year that Square Enix gives news of the project and reveals a program change: it now comes to remaster Final Fantasy X and Final Fantasy X-2 as a compilation HD. Obviously, there is no longer question to celebrate 10 years of a title that is now more than 12.

The real purpose of Square Enix in reworking the two titles was perhaps simply to prepare the ground for a new episode surprise, a Final Fantasy X-3. While no one had considered (nor asked?) such a project, the script writer Kazushige Nojima first raised this idea in the Ultimania guide released Thursday in the Japan concurrently with the game. Nojima explains that Square Enix would be willing to consider a suite based on demand and that itself would be quite motivated to extend the world of Spira and its inhabitants.

But that is not all. Now that the HD compilation is available, the fastest were able to discover the new audio episode of 30 minutes into the end credits. And reported the story (written by Nojima) told in this bonus is clearly a prologue rather than an epilogue (it is question of recurrence of Sin) and serves as probable teaser for a new episode. The end of the credits reveals also two unpublished drawings of Tidus and Yuna signed Tetsuya Nomura. From there to think that this would be their design in a Final Fantasy X-3, there are not that Square Enix invites us to blithely cross. A drawing of two unknown characters has also been revealed.

Final Fantasy X|X-2 HD Remaster will be released March 21 in France at the price of 39.99 euros on PS3 and Vita.
